All you wanna Know about after the washout on Day 1 of ICC Test Championship !

"The Reserve Day has been scheduled to ensure five full days of play, and it will only be used if lost playing time cannot be recovered through the normal provisions of making up lost time each day,” ICC had said in a release while announcing the playing conditions for the WTC final.

If, however, a result is not achieved even after the extra 30 minutes every day and the full reserve day, then both India and New Zealand will share the WTC title.

“There will be no additional day's play if a positive result is not achieved after five full days of play and the match will be declared a draw in such a scenario," the ICC release on the playing conditions read.

India vs New Zealand (IND vs NZ) WTC Final Test:  There was no play possible on the first day of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand in Southampton on Friday owing to incessant rain. The match was scheduled to start at 3pm (IST) but the weather ensured that the pitch at the Ageas Bowl was covered and the toss was delayed. Day 2 will begin at 2:30 pm IST.

In a setback for the cricket fans all around the world, the Opening Day of the ICC World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand has been called off due to heavy rain and wet outfield. BCCI in an update on Twitter said that the wet outfield and consistent rain have forced the day to be called off. Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson, captain of India and New Zealand, respectively have been waiting for the big moment.

Playing Conditions and weather forecast

The reserve day or sixth day officially came into effect half an hour into the second session i.e 6:40 pm IST. The two and half hours of play will be made up in the course of the next five days with 30 minutes of an early start on each day.

According to the Southampton weather forecast, there are chances of overcast conditions in the remaining days of the WTC final. And Indian fans have started pondering whether India will make changes in its already announced playing 11.

The rules state that a team can change its playing 11 until toss has been done. Since the coin flip did not happen between Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli on Day 1, India can make changes in its playing 11, bringing an extra pacer.

New Zealand, on the other hand, would be fretting over the selection of its lone spinner Ajaz Patel in its playing 11. Kiwis would be tempted to pick four seamers in its playing 11 as the Indian batting line-up struggled playing pacers in overcast conditions.

Zealand likely playing 11 for WTC final: Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Will Young, BJ Watling, Colin de Grandhomme, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Neil Wagner

India likely playing 11 for WTC final: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah.
