Rise of India and Indian Cricket !

Image
Check out my latest interview with Netherlands International Cricketer In the last few decades, India has made tremendous growth as a country and as a cricketing nation. Indian population comprises of more than 50 % citizens below the age of 25 which is aspiring and want to make a name for itself, which will eventually gonna have a positive impact on the country's economy in the longer run. The startup culture in India has taken as a frontrunner as many are aspiring to become an entrepreneur rather than be job seekers and it is also predicted that India could become the first nation which has shown such rapid growth in startups. Similarly, in cricket also India has made tremendous strides over the last couple of decades. A cricket team that use to stumble under pressure or used to be very dependent on a few key players in the past now thrives in pressure situations and shown signs of great unity, enjoying each other's success and at the time that competition of gett

Australian cricket and their downfallment !

Gone were those days when touring Australia was considered a nightmare for a lot of cricket team in the '90s and early 2000. There were some incredible players in that era, that lights of Hodge and Macgill keep waiting for their chances in playing X1. Even if any player was injured or retired, there was another already waiting to take his place. There was so much competition in that Australian team that if any new player got an opportunity to play in the team, he has to be at his best as others were waiting to take his place. There were lights of Hayden, langer, Martyn, pointing, Symonds, Gilchrist, McGrath, warne and the list keep going. One thing was they had the team and second was how positively they had played the game. Even in test cricket, they had made a habit of scoring at a run rate of 4 plus or when the wickets were down they never bog down rather they keep playing their aggressive cricket and counter-attacking the opposition. The competition was so much that

England Rotation Policy dilemma !

Image
Ed Smith, the chief selector of England cricket is going forward with a rotation policy for multi-format players in the winter season to ensure they are fresh and injury-free for the summers season in England.  No one is against the idea of rotation policy to ensure players are well fit and are not prone to various injuries in a full hectic schedule of cricket this year. As life is getting back on track after covid, so the number of cricket series that got cancelled last year will eventually have to fit in this year, making this year even more hectic for players. But the question is why would someone want to rest his key players for India series? Everyone knows it's the toughest place to play test match cricket for teams outside of subcontinent and this is the most awaited series for players and cricket fans to look forward to. So any team that is touring India for a Test series, wants that a full-fledged squad should be participating in the series and no one misses out

Amar Virdi, the next monty panesar in the making!

England announced their 16 member squad for first two test match against India beginning next month along with 6 reserves player. Among 6 reserve player includes Amir bird whose family originates from Punjab and have a quite similar resemblance to the famous slow left-arm energetic spinner from England.  Amir Vardi performance in last few county seasons for surrey seems pretty good and may hand him the international debut sooner than later.  But the road for this young spinner was not so easy as he was ruled out of an opening week of the county championship in 2019-20 due to stress fracture. Even surrey team management asked him to lose weight and get back to fitness to earn him a place in the Surrey squad. After recovering from injury and working on fitness, amir bird returns to his side in mid-July of the county season and made a remarkable comeback with a total tally of 14 wickets against Nottinghamshire, helping his side to win the match which shows his mental toughness

Can James Anderson make a mark on his last tour of India ?

Image
At 38, an age when most fast bowlers call time on their international career, James Anderson is still going strong and has his sights on ashes in 2021-22 in England.  No one can doubt the class and effort put by him to take 600 test wickets but his effectiveness in the subcontinent is always being questioned by critics. The prime example being an ongoing tour of Sri Lanka where he was left out of 1st test even though having remarkable stats in the last few years  Anderson is having an average of 23 while bowling in home series in England but that figure drastically goes up to 33 when playing in away test series from home. While his last tour of India was also very ordinary having taken only 4 wickets out of 3 test match in India in 2016-17 having missed couple of matches due to injury.  However, he did well in the the the 2012-13 test series when England had beaten India after 28 years in India as utilizes these reverse swing condition pretty well with the old bowl. If we l

The confidence, positivity and believe is on another level. However, next month England will tour India for much-awaited home series in India after Covid outbreak.  It is never easy for a team outside of subcontinent to visit in India and play in spin-friendly pitches but this time the challenge is even bigger because the form that India is in, it will require a huge effort on part of England to even just compete against the Indians. This series is also very significant in terms of qualifications for the much-awaited ICC test championship, the final for which is scheduled in June 2023 for which there are top three contenders i.e India, New Zealand & England and this might be the last test series for qualifications for the same. England, on another side, will be very desperate to perform well in this series as they wanted to
